{"id":3393,"date":"2021-05-12T11:13:21","date_gmt":"2021-05-12T11:13:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ascef.com\/?p=3393"},"modified":"2021-05-20T11:58:47","modified_gmt":"2021-05-20T11:58:47","slug":"family-business-watch-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ascef.com\/en\/family-business-watch-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"62% of family business increased or retained their personnel in 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>62% of family business managed to increase or retained their personnel during 2020 compared to the previous year.<\/strong> This information was among the data gathered by the <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iefamiliar.com\/publicaciones\/observatorio-de-la-empresa-familiar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Family Business Watch<\/strong><\/a><\/u>, a body created by the <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iefamiliar.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Family Business Institute<\/strong> (<strong>IEF)<\/strong><\/a><\/u> and <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.deloitte.com\/global\/en.html?icid=site_selector_global\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Deloitte<\/strong><\/a><\/u>; and was presented at the Annual IEF Conference attended by the President of the <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ascef.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Catalonian Family Business Association (ASCEF)<\/strong><\/a><\/u>, <strong>Amadeu Jori<\/strong>, on behalf of its associated companies.<\/p>\n<p>Among other data, the Family Business Watch, gathers the pandemics&#8217; impact on the business activity, as well as the balances of the family businesses that constitute the <strong>IEF<\/strong> and <strong>ASCEF,<\/strong> and the rest of the <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iefamiliar.com\/asociaciones-territoriales\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Territorial Associations of Spain Family Business<\/strong><\/a><\/u>. Despite the good employment data, the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemics had an adverse impact on family business turnover and economic performance.<\/p>\n<p>Namely, the number of family business that registered losses last year tripled in 2020 compared to 2019, <strong>up 12% from 4%.<\/strong> In relation to this aspect, 46% of companies did not render profits, while the remaining 42% did. Alternatively, with regard to business turnover, more than half of family businesses (57%) saw it reduced: <strong>One out five companies suffered a decline of over 20%<\/strong>. According to the Family Business Watch, 36% managed to increase their turnover; this improvement, however, was mostly below 10%.<\/p>\n<p>In the closing session of the Annual Conference, <strong>IEF President, Marc Puig<\/strong>, reaffirmed before the Government Deputy Vice-President and Minister of Economic Affairs, Nadia Calvi\u00f1o, the family business commitment to contribute to the economic recovery by claiming a favorable environment for investment, with clear and predictable rules, and a tax frame that &#8220;shall not the be worst of the rest of Europe&#8217;s.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>62% of family business managed to increase or retained their personnel during 2020 compared to the previous year.
